RUNAWAYS

One of our main focuses is helping families locate their child or children that have run away. We do require that the parent or guardian contact us to ask for our assistance. We do not start a runaway case without the consent of a parent or guardian. We also ask that a parent or guardian has contacted their local law enforcement prior to reaching out to us on their missing child or children.

Endangered runaways & missing children oftentimes become victims of trafficking.

Below are just some of the risk factors according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children organization on endangered runaways.

  • Feeling unsafe at home or at school
  • Abuse from a family member, a peer, or someone they know
  • Family Conflict
  • Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation
  • Mental Health
  • Pregnancy

Encounters

Our volunteers are trained in the legalities of chatting with potential traffickers and those who are online looking to sexually exploit children. Volunteers work to expose child sex predators who are hunting our children online. Not all exposures will result in arrests or prosecution but we do our part in collecting the necessary evidence. No actual minors are ever involved in these exposures.

Here are just a few warning signs to look for if you suspect that your child may be speaking with an online predator from InternetSafety101.org.

  • Becomes secretive about their online activity
  • Becomes angry when he or she can't be online
  • Switches Screens
  • Withdrawals from family, friends, or hobbies
  • Receives gifts or mail from people whom you do not know
